I’ve decided that, starting this month, I’ll be sharing online income reports so that I can give Well Kept Wallet readers detailed information about how I make money through the blog.
My focus really hasn’t been to make money directly from the blog until recently. Although I was able to quit my job and start working for myself as a financial coach and SEO expert just over three years ago, I’ve been reading online income reports from other bloggers and came to the realization that I’m leaving money on the table by not working harder to fine tune things in this area.
When my wife and I paid off $52,000 in debt, I started Well Kept Wallet as a way to encourage others to become debt free and to achieve their financial goals.
Now, as I work on building wealth through my SEO business (Phoenix SEO Company) and through blogging, my goal is to teach others how they can earn significant money through blogging as well. As the numbers rise each month and as my income increases, I’ll also be sharing what steps I’m putting in place to increase blog traffic and increase blog income as well.
Here is a breakdown of the money I made this month:
- Media.net – $147.43
- Adsense – $111.41
- Bluehost – $65 (Get hosting for less than $4 per month and great customer support)
- Grasshopper – $100.00 (a cheap way for entrepreneurs to have an 800 number for a national presence)
- Amazon – $1.96 (affiliate links in http://www.wellkeptwallet.com/2013/04/save-money-with-a-refillable-k-cup-for-your-keurig/)
- Two YouTube Channels – $5.29 (My Channel http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5tJ29CLYZsqUE40dlgWXMw) + $8.58 (http://www.youtube.com/user/Dhayes8282)
- Credit Karma – $.75
- Lending Club – $12 (Way to refinance credit card debt as low as 5.99%)
- Course Affiliates – $38.70 (Stacking Benjamins Save 50)
- Other site income: $449.29 (I own two other websites that make money through various advertising sources)
Total – $940.41
Notice that this is mostly all passive income that comes simply from inserting links into posts that provide valuable information for Well Kept Wallet readers.
Can Anyone Start a Blog?
Yes – anyone. I had zero writing experience – or blogging experience – when I started Well Kept Wallet in 2010. By reading tutorials on how to start a blog, I learned how to manage my own blog and eventually how to approach businesses for affiliate partnerships that would provide as a passive income source for the blog.
Self-Hosted or Free Blogging Platform?
I’m a big proponent of self-hosted blogging platforms for one reason:
Using a self-hosted WordPress blog via a hosting company like Bluehost can help you start building your brand for a extremely low cost (Less than $4 per month if you use my affiliate link above)
A blogger that wants to have online income success has to focus eventually on creating and building a brand. When you use a free blogging platform, you limit your ability to do that and are promoting the hosting platform instead.
