14 Best Website Hosting Companies in 2019

Some of the links included in this post are from our sponsors. Read about how we make money.

If you own a business, run a blog or want to make money blogging, you’re going to need a website hosting company. Your website hosting company is what connects your site to the world.

It’s also the storage “container” for all of your website’s information: written content, images, videos, products and services information – and links to potential sales.

Having a good hosting company is vital if you run a business or blog. We’re going to share the best website hosting companies in 2019 you should consider for your website or blog.

Top Web Hosting Companies

We’ve chosen these web hosting companies for a variety of reasons. Reliability is one. Customer service is another. Usability is vital. And of course, value is important too.

The right hosting company should make it easy for you to start a blog fast. You should be able to operate your website easily and do so at an affordable price.

Here are our favorite web hosting companies for 2019:

1. Bluehost

Bluehost is my go-to company for hosting when I start a new blog or website. The company was founded in 2003, and its headquarters are in Utah.

Why do I like Bluehost so much? Three reasons:

  • Reliability – Bluehost is always up, running and quick to correct any hosting issues
  • Value – Bluehost offers Well Kept Wallet readers hosting for just $2.95 a month if you purchase via our Bluehost link
  • Ease of Use – I used Bluehost when I started my first blog and knew absolutely nothing about websites, and they made it super easy

With Bluehost, you simply click on the link above, choose a domain name and get started creating your blog or website. In fact, we can show you how to start a blog in just 10 minutes using Bluehost.

One of Bluehost’s best features is that they easily integrate with WordPress. However, you don’t have to use WordPress to have Bluehost host your blog or website.

Bluehost has three basic hosting plans available: Basic, Plus and ChoicePlus

Basic

Bluehost’s Basic plan is the $2.95 per month plan I talked about earlier. It’s great for a beginner blog that isn’t interested in a comprehensive hosting plan.

Plus

Bluehost’s Plus plan is a step up, offering parked and subdomains with your account. The Plus plan offers unlimited email storage, as well.

ChoicePlus

Bluehost’s ChoicePlus plan is their recommended plan, as it will allow your business site or blog to grow without limits. It comes with over $80 per year in extra features, including Domain Privacy.

In addition to the features mentioned above, Bluehost has great customer support. They’re available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help you with all your website needs.

This means that if you’re working at 2 a.m. on your blog and come across an issue, they’ll be there to help you. Add that in with your 30-day money-back guarantee, and you really have nothing to lose when starting a blog or website via Bluehost.

2. InMotion

The InMotion hosting company was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in California. This company also offers 24/7 monitoring and customer service support for you as a website or blog owner.

Plus, they offer a 90-day money-back guarantee with all of their hosting plans. InMotion offers several options for hosting plans. However, we’re going to focus on their WordPress hosting plans as WordPress is one of the most popular (and easiest to learn) website creation companies.

InMotion has six plans available for hosting WordPress sites:

  • WP-1000S
  • WP-2000S
  • WP-3000S
  • WP-4000S
  • WP-VPS (Virtual Privacy Server)
  • WP-Dedicated (the ultimate hosting package for business professionals)

The plan prices vary from $6.99 per month up to $105.69 per month for the Dedicated plan package. Your plan choice will depend on several factors, starting with the number of sites you need.

Choose from 1, 2, 3, 6, or the unlimited number of websites the VPS and Dedicated plans offer. And InMotion works with other platforms besides WordPress, just like Bluehost does.

3. HostGator

HostGator is another popular hosting company. Founded in 2002, the company has the longevity of Bluehost and InMotion. Its headquarters are out of Houston, Texas.

HostGator has three basic website hosting plans.

Hatchling

The Hatchling plan starts at $2.75 per month and provides for one domain. It comes with a free SSL certificate and unmetered bandwidth.

Baby

HostGator’s Baby plan starts at $3.95 per month and accommodates unlimited domains. Like the Hatchling plan, it comes with a free SSL certificate and unmetered bandwidth.

Business

The Business plan starts at $5.95 and has everything the Baby plan has. Besides, this plan offers free SEO tools and a free exclusive IP.

HostGator also offers dedicated WordPress hosting and VPS hosting as well. They have 24/7/365 customer support, and a 45-day money-back guarantee too.

4. Hostinger

Hostinger International is an employee-owned hosting company and domain registrar company. The company was founded in 2004, and it has headquarter offices around the world.

They can host the smallest of websites up to large scale company websites. You can choose several hosting options with Hostinger. However, web hosting and cloud hosting are the most popular choices.

Web hosting works best for small to medium-sized websites, while cloud hosting works best for larger websites. More specifically defined, web hosting is where your site is hosted on a server, usually a shared one.

Cloud hosting gives your site the ability to bounce between servers to ensure better availability. This capability is often a necessity on large sites for optimum speed and performance.

Web Hosting

Hostinger’s web hosting services come in the form of three different plans. The plans range in price from 99 cents per month to $4.99 per month.

The plan you choose will be dependent on the number of sites you want to host and other factors.

Cloud Hosting

Hostinger’s cloud hosting services offer three different plans, as well. The plans vary in price, ranging from $9.99 per month to $35.99 per month. Again, the types of services you need with your large scale website will help you determine which plan is best for you.

VPS Hosting

In addition to web and cloud hosting, Hostinger offers VPS hosting. See their website for more on VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting.

5. A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting has been in business since 2001 and has offices in Michigan, Arizona, Europe and Asia. You can get shared web hosting with A2 Hosting for as little as $2.96 per month.

A2 Hosting has three options for shared web hosting: Lite, Swift and Turbo.

Prices are as follows:

  • Lite for $2.96 per month
  • Swift for $3.70 per month
  • Turbo for $7.03 per month

This company has VPS hosting too, as well as managed WordPress hosting starting at $9.80 per month. Having a managed WordPress site means much faster speeds for you – up to 20x faster. For more information on all of the A2 Hosting plans, visit their website using the link above.

6. DreamHost

DreamHost is the most seasoned of U.S. based hosting sites on our list. It was founded in 1996 and is based out of Los Angeles, California. They’ve got a variety of hosting options to choose from:

  • Shared web hosting
  • VPS hosting
  • Managed WordPress hosting
  • Dedicated server hosting
  • Cloud hosting

If you’re like most website owners, the shared web hosting will be plenty sufficient for your site’s needs. DreamHost’s web hosting services start at just $2.59 per month. That price is for their Shared Starter plan. This is a good price, especially if you’re trying to make money as a beginner blogger.

If you want their Shared Unlimited plan, you’ll pay just $5.95 per month and get hosting for an unlimited number of websites. Both shared web hosting plans with DreamHost come with a free domain.

Note that these prices are for their three-year plan. If you want a shorter hosting term, the per-month prices will be a bit higher. Cloud hosting and other hosting options with DreamHost start at just $4.50 per month.

7. GoDaddy

GoDaddy is the second longest-running U.S. based website hosting company on our list, founded in 1997. It’s currently headquartered out of Arizona and boasts nearly 18 million customers.

GoDaddy has four web hosting plans to choose from: Economy, Deluxe, Ultimate and Maximum. We’ll share a few details about each of GoDaddy’s plans.

Economy

GoDaddy’s Economy plan is suitable for starter sites. It includes hosting for one site and costs $5.99 per month. You’ll get a free business email (first year only) with this plan as well.

Deluxe

GoDaddy’s Deluxe plan starts at $7.99 per month but has many added features. It comes with hosting for unlimited websites, unlimited storage and unlimited subdomains.

Ultimate

GoDaddy says their Ultimate hosting plan is their best value plan. The Ultimate plan starts at $12.99 per month and includes all of the features of the Deluxe plan, plus twice the processing power and memory as well as a free SSL certificate for one year.

Maximum

GoDaddy’s Maximum plan starts at $19.99 per month and includes all of the features of the Ultimate plan, plus:

  • 2x more processing power and memory
  • A free SSL certificate for the term of your plan

They’ve got three basic web hosting plans to choose from.

Their StartUp plan has an introductory price of $3.95 per month and accommodates one website. SiteGround’s GrowBig plan starts at $5.95 per month, provides unlimited websites and 25,000 monthly visits.

The company’s Basic plan starts at $3.29 per month. It provides hosting for one website, with unlimited bandwidth and disk storage space. Hostwinds’ Advanced plan is $4.23 per month.

This plan lets you host up to four websites and gives you unlimited bandwidth and disk space.

Their Ultimate plan is $5.17 per month and has the same unlimited bandwidth and disk space. However, it lets you host an unlimited number of websites.

Hostwinds also provides other hosting services, such as:

  • Business centered hosting plans
  • Cloud hosting
  • Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting

They also offer 24/7 customer support and guaranteed 99.9999% uptime.

11. Liquid Web

Liquid Web web hosting was founded in 1997 and is based out of Lansing, Michigan. Interestingly, this company offers a 100% uptime guarantee.

This company focuses on serving larger web-based clients. So I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for the casual blogger. Instead, Liquid Web primarily services business-based website owners.

They offer a variety of web hosting options, including:

  • VPS hosting
  • Cloud hosting
  • Server clusters
  • Managed WordPress hosting
  • Managed WooCommerce hosting

And more. Liquid Web’s cheapest plans start at $29 per month. The company services websites in over 130 countries, and they have over 1 million sites under management.

Besides, they have over 500 hosting professionals on-site to help you with any of your hosting questions or needs. Liquid Web is a great website hosting choice if you own a business, or if you’re starting one and planning on going big.

12. Cloudways Web

Cloudways Web was founded in 2011, and its base is in Malta. This company provides managed cloud hosting, offers 24/7 support, and all plans offer free SSL certificates.

Cloudways Web has four basic hosting plans to choose from, but they offer over ten plans in total. The plans range in price from $10 a month to $80 a month for the basic plans.

If you’re interested in a cloud hosting plan for your large business, you can get packages with bandwidth up to 12TB.

These large business-centered plans will be more expensive, but they can serve just about all of your business needs. Cloudways Web is an inclusive web hosting company that offers packages for all businesses and website owners, large or small.

13. WP Engine

WP Engine is a hosting company that focuses on servicing WordPress websites. While they don’t offer shared, VPS or dedicated hosting, they are great at taking care of your WordPress website.

WP Engine has four hosting plans to choose from: Startup, Growth, Scale and Custom.

  • The Startup plan starts at $35 per month or $29.17 per month when paid annually. You’ll get 50GB of bandwidth for 1 site at that price.
  • The Growth plan starts at $115 per month or $95.83 per month when paid annually. This plan offers 200GB monthly for up to 5 sites.
  • WP Engine’s Scale plan costs $290 per month or $241.67 if paid annually. This plan offers 400GB of bandwidth per month for up to 15 sites.
  • The Custom plan, of course, offers custom hosting solutions for all your website needs.

While WP Engine might be more expensive than some of the other sites listed here, they do offer an excellent up time record and rock solid customer service.

If you want a hosting company with a serious commitment to ensuring your site stays up and active, WP Engine is for you.

14. FatCow Web Hosting

If you visit the FatCow Web Hosting website, you won’t find much about the company’s history. But you will find VPS hosting for as little as $19.99 per month. The company offers Dedicated Server hosting for businesses as well, starting at $119.99 per month.

Along with 24/7 customer service support, FatCow has a 30-day money-back guaranteed on their hosting plans.

Bonus: When I checked the website for this article, FatCow was offering a special deal to get VPS hosting for as little as $4.08 per month. This offer is limited, so it may or may not be available when you check the site. And like other sites mentioned here, FatCow has WordPress hosting as well.

Summary

If you’re a website owner, or if you’re thinking about starting a home-based business such as a blog, you’ll need web hosting.

WordPress does have a self-hosted site option, but using a company such as Bluehost allows you to take your blog or website to a much more professional level. For myself, I wouldn’t be without a hosting company for my websites.

Have you ever used any of the hosting sites mentioned here for your blog or website? If so, how did you like the company you used?
