Top iOS Apps to Make Extra Money

Money-making iOS apps run the entire gamut, from playing games and micro-tasks to earning passive income. These apps are all free to download. Simply download, create an account, and start earning within minutes.

1. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a popular iOS app where you can earn rewards for various tasks if you prefer to do a little bit of everything.

You can earn reward points for these activities:

  • Online surveys
  • Daily polls
  • Watching videos
  • Sampling products
  • Surfing the web
  • Microtasks

Swagbucks is the most popular “get paid to” app because you get paid to do almost anything you’re already doing for free.

Now, you earn rewards points that can be redeemed for gift cards starting at $3. Or, you can always get paid via PayPal cash.

2. MobileXpression

Do you want an app that requires no additional effort to make money? MobileXpression is a research app that pays you to share your mobile internet activity.

After downloading the app, use your phone as you normally do, and MobileXpression will pay you accordingly. The more you use your phone, the more money you make!

You can earn a weekly prize, and you can also redeem your rewards points for the following prizes:

  • Cash
  • Gift cards
  • Merchandise

And you’re guaranteed to win a prize after your first week of using MobileXpression.

3. Decluttr

Are you ready to clean out those closets and your garage but unsure if you should host a garage sale, donate, or sell online? Decluttr is one of my favorites to sell your goods quickly.

Sell the following used items with Decluttr:

  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Video Games
  • Cell Phone
  • Tech Devices
  • LEGO
  • Textbooks

Downloading the iOS app lets you scan the barcode on each item you wish to sell to get an instant price quote.

Once you’ve scanned all your items, Decluttr gives you a free shipping label. Once Decluttr receives your items, you’ll receive payment via PayPal the next day.

4. Shopkick

Do you like getting paid to shop? If so, Shopkick is an app for iPhone that pays you to check prices at your local stores.

You can earn additional reward points called kicks for making in-store or online purchases and watching in-app videos.

Even if you don’t make a purchase, you can still earn points just for scanning barcodes.

You can redeem your rewards points for digital gift cards to your favorite stores and restaurants.

5. Ibotta

Cooking your meals instead of going out to eat is one of the easiest ways to save money every month.

With the Ibotta app, you get paid every time you buy groceries in person or shop online through the app at an online retail partner.

Before you take a picture of your grocery receipt, activate the product offers for the items you buy to earn cash rewards. You can also redeem in-store coupons to save money while you make money.

You will receive a $10 cash bonus after redeeming your first Ibotta offer. Ibotta is constantly running special monthly promotions so you can receive extra monthly cash bonuses.

For example, you can earn a $5 bonus if you redeem at least six offers in a month or if you’re a first-time shopper at an online retailer like Poshmark or Zulily.

6. Rakuten

Rakuten might be the best online shopping app because you get cash back at over 2,000 online stores and 30+ physical retailers.

Instead of going directly to the retail website to make a purchase, visit the retailer through the Rakuten app. It might take a few extra seconds, but it’s worth the click.

Receive a $30 cash bonus after your first $30 online purchase through Rakuten.

7. Doordash

Delivering food is one of the easiest ways to make extra money. The DoorDash app is super easy to use.

DoorDash can be the perfect way to earn money as a college student because you’re not required to own a car to deliver food for cash.

You can walk, own a scooter, or ride a bike, although owning a car can mean getting first dibs at the best deliveries.

As long as you’re at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license and valid insurance, you’re an ideal DoorDash candidate.

8. Toluna

Do you want to join one of the largest and most respected online survey communities? Toluna is another iOS app that helps you make money from these activities:

When you’re not making money from surveys, you can interact with other Toluna community members in “battles” and games to have fun. You can redeem your rewards points for cash, gift cards, or merchandise.

9. Evidation

Get paid to exercise with Evidation. This app syncs with Apple’s Health app or your wearable fitness device to get paid for the following activities:

  • Counting steps
  • Meditating
  • Healthy eating habits
  • Answering questions

Evidation will pay you via PayPal or direct deposit, just like 4 million other members do on a regular basis.

10. Drive with Uber

Are you looking to make some extra cash to make your car payment? Driving with Uber lets you be a rideshare driver and earn cash in your spare time or while driving to work.

The great thing about using a driving app to make money is that you get to set your hours, and it is one of the most lucrative side hustles if you own a four-door vehicle.

11. Bookscouter

If you have used textbooks to sell, BookScouter compares the prices of 35 buyback vendors simultaneously. You only need to scan the barcode or ISBN number to receive an instant price quote.

You pick the highest-paying vendors and send your books off with the free shipping label to receive quick payment.

After using BookScouter, you’ll never try selling your books back to the college bookstore again!

12. Poshmark

When you’re ready to pare down your wardrobe, Poshmark needs to be one of the first apps you use to sell clothing.

You only need to snap a few pictures and list the item. Poshmark gives you a printable, prepaid shipping label when an item sells.

13. Trim

Are you paying too much for your phone, cable TV, and car insurance? Trim can help you find out, and they’ll do all the hard negotiating work for you!

Trim will analyze your spending habits in about five minutes to help you save money by canceling unwanted subscriptions.

If you’re paying too much for car insurance, cell phone service, or cable TV, Trim will apply the best promotional offer to your current plan to help you pay “introductory rates” once again.

Yes, mobile apps can help you make money, but saving money by optimizing your budget is an indirect way to make money without starting a side hustle.

14. Freelance on Upwork or Fiverr

If you have the time to commit to freelancing assignments, consider Upwork or Fiverr. Both apps are free, so you can bid on gigs or accept work directly from your phone.

Although there are plenty of opportunities to freelance online, landing clients can be very competitive, and every second matters!

Depending on what type of freelancing work you do, you may need to complete the actual work on a computer.

Other gigs that can be completed with a phone or tablet:

You can also use the app to consult with current clients. After all, you have a life outside freelancing and can’t stay glued to the computer screen 24/7.

Mobile apps help you take life on the go and potentially become a digital nomad!

15. Fluz

Fluz is a newer app that gives you cash back when you shop. However, there is a social component to the app as well.

When you invite friends to join Fluz, you also get cash back on their purchases. You can earn up to 35% cash back on purchases you make on:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Entertainment
  • Services

And more. Also, you can combine Fluz with your cash-back credit or debit card and your other loyalty rewards programs to double up on your earnings.

If you’re ready to make extra money in your free time, get out your smartphone. The same device that’s more technologically advanced than the NASA computer system that put a man on the moon has the same capability to make you wealthier!

And you’ll have fun using these money-making apps for iPhone to help you put more money in your pocket.

  1. Is MobileXpression safe to use? What kind of internet activity does it track on our phones?

    1. You could always do an internet search to see if there have been complaints against them. Also, check with the Better Business Bureau, or BBB, on the internet. That might help you feel more confident, or not, about the safety of using them. As far as tracked activity, I would look at their policies, terms and conditions to see what it says. Or, you can contact them directly to find out more using their contact info on their website. That might give you a few places to start.

  2. This article is BS just like the apps it tells you about. What about telling us about real ones?

    1. Actually, they are all real. Some avenues pay more than others, of course, and some people have better luck with some of them over other options. However, you can make money with them and they are real.

  3. Are there any apps available for users outside of the U.S.?
Many thanks to you. Your information is quite useful.

    1. You’d really just have to check with any of them you are interested in. I would go to their website and start digging around in their terms, policies, FAQ’s, and such to see if you can find out. If you can’t get the answers you need, try contacting them to find out before you invest too much time and end up with nothing to show for it. I wish you luck!
