Most items cost between $100 and $1,000. There are also many items available for less than $100.

Some of the items you can buy on Zebit include:

  • Phones and tablets
  • Laptops
  • Kitchen appliances
  • Furniture
  • Clothing
  • Jewelry
  • Sports equipment
  • Toys

Zebit is available in all 50 U.S. states. However, Washington D.C. residents are not eligible to use the site.

Here is how Zebit works:

  1. Add items to your shopping cart
  2. Make qualifying down payment
  3. Verify income to qualify for a six-month payment plan
  4. Receive item
  5. Make a monthly payment for six months

Who is Zebit For?

Shoppers who struggle to qualify for a personal loan or need several months to pay for a large purchase but want to avoid a hard credit inquiry and interest payments should consider Zebit.

It’s possible to buy almost any popular electronic or household item with Zebit. This service can be a good way to avoid interest charges from credit cards and personal loans that increase total purchase costs.

The online store can be best for people rebuilding credit who may not qualify for the best traditional loan rates.

Also, consider this site if you have limited income and need monthly payments instead of a lump sum payment.

How Do I Open a Zebit Account?

It’s relatively simple to open an account with Zebit.

The minimum qualifications to join include:

  • Being at least 18 years old (19 years in AL and NE and 21 in MS)
  • Living in the United States (not available in Washington, D.C.)
  • Receiving an annual income above $16,000
  • Having a Social Security number

You won’t need a FICO score to join. Instead, Zebit uses the last four digits of your Social Security number to access your credit report.

This soft inquiry may appear on your credit report, but it won’t hurt your credit score.

Zebit uses SageStream to access your credit reports to verify your identity. You may also need to verify your income or current employer to get final purchase approval.

The enrollment process takes a few minutes. You only need to enter your name, address, last four digits of your Social Security number and income information to qualify for a ZebitLine.

If you’re denied an account, you will receive an Adverse Action Notice. This document explains what to improve to qualify for membership.

If you plan on making a purchase immediately after opening an account, having a recent pay stub handy can save you time. Zebit will use this to verify your income and approve your purchase request.

Zebit Features

Here are some of the tools that make the Zebit shopping experience easy.

ZebitLine

zebit - congrats on initial spending limit

Each shopper gets a ZebitLine spending limit. Qualified shoppers may receive a maximum $2,500 ZebitLine.

The website uses your annual income and a soft credit check from your credit report to determine your initial ZebitLine.

It’s possible to get a spending limit increase after three to six months of on-time payments. The platform reviews your Zebit payment history, and increases don’t hurt your credit score.

Shoppers can spend up to their current ZebitLine minimum, but not all purchases are guaranteed. Zebit does a final assessment for each purchase to verify that the buyer is likely to pay for the purchase.

On-time and late purchases can affect your spending limit, but Zebit doesn’t report your payment history to the credit bureaus.

ZebitScore

your zebitscore

Members can participate in an optional 14-question quiz to obtain a ZebitScore. This tool doesn’t affect Zebit membership or your ZebitLine spending limit.

Some of the questions include:

The quiz only takes a few minutes to complete. You receive your score and recommendations to improve your financial situation. For example, Zebit may tell you how to eliminate financial stress.

Zebit Market

The Zebit Market is where you go to see what you can buy from Zebit.

With a large product selection, the site can rival Amazon and other merchandise giants like Walmart.

Some of the brands you can buy include:

  • Apple
  • Beats by Dr. Dre
  • FitBit
  • Gucci
  • Michael Kors
  • Nintendo
  • Ray-Ban
  • Samsung
  • Sony

It’s also possible to shop by category or enter keywords into the search engine.

The total price is the final price you pay after the six monthly payments. However, you will need to add your address to see the shipping costs and sales tax when you view your shopping cart.

Unfortunately, the platform charges shipping and handling charges on most items. Other online retailers are less likely to charge these types of fees.

Product Categories

There are many product categories, allowing you to buy almost any merchandise you need.

Some of the shopping categories include:

  • Apparel (i.e., clothes, shoes and handbags)
  • Appliances
  • Electronics
  • Health and beauty
  • Jewelry
  • Power tools
  • Tires
  • Toys
  • Video games

It’s also possible to buy digital gift cards for many popular stores and restaurants. However, these cards charge a handling fee, so you may want to look for ways to get free gift cards instead.

There are categories for sale items and free shipping. These offerings can be better deals because you pay less money.

Payment Options

Unlike other online shopping sites, you don’t have to pay for the entire purchase upfront. Zebit only requires a small upfront payment.

The platform offers two payment options for each purchase:

  • Pay Less: Smaller upfront payment with shipping after two additional weekly payments
  • Get it ASAP: Larger upfront payment but ships immediately

Choosing the Pay Less option collects half of the down payment immediately. You then divide the remaining balance into two weekly payments before the item ships.

For example, a full down payment might be $100. But you might pay $50 and then $25 the next two weeks with the Pay Less payment method before the item ships.

After paying the full down payment, you make one monthly payment for the next six months to pay off the remaining balance.

Shipping Speeds

Shoppers will receive most merchandise within seven to 10 business days after making the full down payment.

Special items like TVs and large appliances may receive White Glove Delivery. Keep in mind that the delivery team won’t install the new item.

Physical gift card orders arrive within five business days. These items may ship the next day when you place an order by 5 p.m. Eastern.

Digital gift cards can arrive within four to eight hours when purchased by 5 p.m. Eastern.

Return Policy

Zebit doesn’t accept returns on unwanted items. All sales are final and you must contact the company within 10 days of receiving your item if it’s damaged to request a replacement.

Are There Any Fees?

It’s free to join Zebit, and you won’t pay interest since each purchase is made with six equal payments.

If you miss a payment or pay off your purchase early to save money, you won’t incur any penalties.

However, there are several add-on charges you can expect to pay on most purchases. These fees won’t appear in the initial total price when browsing the Zebit Market.

Shipping and Handling Fee

Gift cards and merchandise orders have shipping and handling charges. One exception is buying tires in the continental United States (Alaska and Hawaii residents still pay fees).

The handling charges vary by item and can ship via USPS, FedEx or UPS.

Gift cards incur an 18% service fee. Zebit claims this fee is similar to the platform fees that online ticket marketplaces sell.

Sales Tax

Like most online stores, buyers will pay sales tax on all purchases.

If you want to avoid sales tax, buying used items on local buy and sell apps like Craigslist is a legal way to do so. You may pay less as well.

Extended Warranty

An optional add-on for many items is an extended warranty for up to three years. Physical stores may offer similar protection plans at checkout.

The warranty price depends on the protection plan length and the item cost.

Is Zebit Safe?

Zebit purchases won’t impact your credit score even if you miss a payment. Not having to worry about your credit score is one benefit of using this service instead of choosing another financing option.

The company doesn’t collect your full Social Security number. It does collect similar information to other online stores.

It is possible for your username, password and personal contact information can be compromised if a data breach happens.

You can expect to receive promotional emails from Zebit about their latest offers. These emails may also include specials from third-party partners.

Is Zebit Worth It?

Zebit can be a good option if you want a “buy now, pay over time” service that doesn’t impact your credit score or have hidden interest charges.

The service has a score of 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot. Key positive remarks include the ease of credit approval and the wide product selection.

While Zebit makes it easy to pay for expensive purchases, shoppers should compare prices at other online stores to avoid overpaying. Zebit may charge more for items than other sellers to offset the 0% financing.

You may also consider using another site if you can pay in full to avoid shipping charges. Other online stores are more likely to partner with cashback sites to give you cash rewards.

  • Wide product selection
  • Good credit not required to join

FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about Zebit.

Does Zebit help your credit?

No. Zebit doesn’t help your credit score. It won’t hurt it either.

The service doesn’t report your payments to the credit bureaus and uses a soft credit inquiry to see if you qualify.

What happens if you don’t pay Zebit?

Missing a payment won’t hurt your credit, but you won’t be able to make new purchases until you pay the overdue balance. Your spending limit may also be lowered.

If you miss a payment, Zebit will work with you to collect the balance without late fees or interest charges. You can also contact Zebit before missing a payment to discuss repayment options.

Is Zebit a good deal?

Zebit can be helpful for shoppers needing to use six-month payment plans to buy items. There are no late fees, membership fees or interest charges.

However, Zebit may charge more for items than other online stores. The markup depends on the product and can be high for items like electronics.

It’s important to compare prices before buying. Consider item costs, shipping fees and extended payment plan charges before making a purchase.

How does Zebit verify your income?

Shoppers may need to upload a pay stub or verify direct deposits to qualify for purchases. Some employers partner with Zebit to make the income verification process easier.

Is using “buy now, pay later” a good idea?

It depends. Sites like Zebit can be a good option for people who need to make expensive purchases but can’t pay the full purchase price. These sites may not charge interest.

However, these services may charge more for items than other stores that require buying items upfront. If so, it can be better to buy used or save enough cash to pay for items in full.

Are there other products like Zebit?

Yes, there are a few companies that allow you to build credit as you shop. Perpay is an alternative to Zebit.

Summary

Zebit makes it easy to buy almost any item with interest-free payments for six months. This can be helpful for people who can’t wait to save enough money to pay for the purchase in full.

However, it’s important to use a site like Capital One Shopping to compare prices with various online stores.

Other sites may charge a lower price and offer similar financing options. Taking the time to do your research can make sure you get the best overall deal.
