If you do an Internet search for free Target samples, you’ll find dozens of blogs sharing about how you can get free samples via Target’s Sample Spot page. Unfortunately, that program no longer exists, however there are still a few other ways you can get free samples and other stuff from Target.
I think we all like getting free stuff. Free samples are great, but it’s nice to get free stuff that is more brag-worthy as well. The latest freebie I’m boasting about? A free $30 in cash that I was able to use to my heart’s desire.
If you like getting free samples and other stuff from Target, read on. Here are five ways you can get free stuff – whether it be samples or just regular stuff – at your favorite stores, including Target.
1. Get the Target Beauty Box or other Sample Box
Every month, Target offers a beauty box containing samples of many different types of beauty products. Each month is different, but as I browsed the box at the time of this writing, there were samples of Mrs. Meyer’s body wash, a shampoo sample, some skin care items including soap and a mineral fortifier, a lip color sample and two different brands of moisturizing masks.
The box at this writing also contains a coupon for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more. Target occasionally offers sample boxes with baby items or health items as well. I found the sample box offers by going to the Target website and searching “samples”.
There were other sample boxes as well that you could buy at deep discounts.
Note that the Target Sample Boxes Box do cost between $5.00 and $10.00 each month, presumably to pay for shipping and handling costs.
2. Get Free Stuff Using Your REDCard Debit Card
Target offers a debit card called the REDCard that will give you an immediately 5% off most Target purchases. The REDCard debit card links right to your checking account so you can spend without the risk of accumulating debt. If you keep track of the money you save by getting your discount, you can use your savings to buy free stuff.
3. Get Free Baby Samples by Creating a Baby Registry
If you have a baby on the way, you can register for your baby at Target. One of the benefits of registering for your baby at Target is that they send out a Welcome Kit for all expectant mothers that contains free samples of baby and mom stuff.
The Welcome kit contains $50 worth of samples and coupons for you to use for baby purchases and new mom items as well. Your welcome kit could contain samples of any number of items including baby lotions, wipes, diapers, formula samples and more.
To register for your baby at Target, you can go to any store location, or you can register online.
4. Shop with Ibotta
I wrote recently about how I started shopping with Ibotta and earned $20 in less than a week’s time. If you do a lot of shopping at Target, I would highly recommend you check out my Ibotta review, consider installing the Ibotta app and checking their Target deals before you shop.
When you find an offer at Target (or any of the other 300 stores they give cash back at) and redeem that offer for cash back, your cash balance with Ibotta grows. You can cash out your accrued balance via Paypal, or you can use your accrued cash to get a Target gift card and get free stuff from Target that way.
I was able to earn $30 in less than two weeks’ time by using Ibotta when I shop.
Note: Ibotta sometimes offers a sign up bonus of $5, $10 or more, which will help you boost earnings toward a Target gift card immensely.
5. Complete Surveys and other Tasks
If you find yourself with a few minutes (or hours) of spare time on a regular basis, you might want to consider earning money via taking surveys and other tasks.
Two of our favorite companies that will help you earn free gift cards from Target and other places are Survey Junkie and Swagbucks.
Survey Junkie pays you for completing surveys. With over 5 million members, they must be doing something right. The process is pretty simple: as you complete surveys with them, Survey Junkie puts money into your account.
You can then cash that money out via Paypal or get an instant gift card to Target (or many other stores) to get your free stuff. Survey Junkie allows members as young as 13 years old to sign up and start earning money or gift cards.
Swagbucks is another popular site that pays you in cash or in gift cards for doing small tasks. The company has paid out over $241 million in rewards so far, and at this writing there’s a $10 sign up bonus for new members.
Swagbucks will pay you for completing a number of easy tasks, such as:
- Playing games
- Watching videos
- Taking surveys
- Searching the Net
- Shopping online
As with Survey Junkie, you will accumulate points or cash for each task you complete. Once you’ve earned the minimum cash-out threshold you can use your accumulated points to get a free Target gift card and go buy free stuff. You can also get a PayPal deposit or get free gift cards to other stores as well.
