Where to sell your iPhone
Here are some options for selling your used iPhone, and details on how each site works. Some websites will even buy broken iPhones. Check out the sites below and see which one you might want to use.
1. BuyBack Boss
BuyBack Boss‘ goal is to make selling your iPhone a delightful experience. How’s that for a change? They even take iPods, iPads, iWatch, Samsung and Google Pixel. Here’s how it works.
You start by clicking on the “Get a Quote Now” orange button on the home page. After that, you can choose your device (yes, BuyBack Boss will buy other devices from you too).
You’ll have to give them basic phone information, such as your provider, storage amount and phone condition. After you enter your information and receive a quote, you can accept the quote.
Then you’ll get instructions to ship your iPhone – for free – to BuyBack Boss. Once BuyBack Boss receives your phone, they’ll assess it to ensure it matches your description.
Then they’ll send you your cash via mailed check or a deposit to your PayPal account.

Swappa is a site that lets you sell your iPhone directly to other users. One interesting thing about Swappa is that sellers don’t pay any fees. Instead, buyers will occasionally pay a small fee to buy items from users on the site.
Another interesting thing about selling on Swappa is that when you sell something on the site you’ll get paid immediately — even before you ship the item. Note that you’ll be paid via PayPal and will be expected to ship the item within two business days.
Swappa recommends adding the shipping costs into the list price for the item in order to maximize profit.

BuyBackWorld has been buying and selling used iPhones and other electronics since 2010. The site is easy to use. You start by clicking the “Sell Smarter” button on the homepage.
Then you choose the type of iPhone you have, answer some other questions and get your instant quote. If you like the quote they give you, simply print out the free shipping label, box up your phone and mail it in.
They pay you either by way of a mailed check or via PayPal–whatever you choose. Buy quotes are good for 30 days.

Decluttr makes selling phones (and everything else) super easy. They even have a solid Trustpilot score of 4.6/5.
When you are on the Decluttr site, you simply find your phone by clicking on the “Sell My Cell Phone” tab listed at the top of the site.
Choose your iPhone type from there, and the site will bring you to a separate page.
Hint: If you choose the “Sell Tech” tab the site will help you go directly to the iPhone page. Just choose “Sell Apple Products” on the drop-down menu.
After you land on the page that shows your type of iPhone, you’ll choose your carrier and the condition of your phone.
You can choose three types of conditions:
Yes, Decluttr accepts broken iPhones. The amount of money you’ll get for broken phones will be substantially lower than it would for working phones.
After you accept the Decluttr offer, you’ll get a free shipping label via email. Simply pack the phone in a box in a secure manner, attach the free shipping label and ship the phone using the instructions included with your email.
As soon as Decluttr receives your phone they’ll assess it for quality. If it’s in the condition you stated it was, they’ll send you your money next day via PayPal, direct deposit or check.
This makes Decluttr an easy and quick place to sell your phone.

Gazelle works similar to Decluttr. First you head to the site and click on the “sell” tab. From there you click the “iPhone” button and choose your phone type.
Gazelle will give you an immediate quote based on the condition of your phone. You’ll have to answer some questions about the phone’s condition before you get your offer price.
After you accept the offer, you can ship the phone with the free shipping label Gazelle will send you. When the phone is received and inspected, Gazelle will send your payment.
You can choose from three payment options: PayPal, check or Amazon e-gift card.
In order to sell your iPhone at SellCell you’ll need to go to their website and follow the easy steps they’ve laid out for you.
SellCell is the US’s No 1 price comparison site for selling old phones and electronics. It compares the price for your old iPhone across around 20 leading buyback companies. This means you are guaranteed to find the highest price for your old iPhone!
The first thing you need to do is look for your device. Once you’ve done that, find the best deal and then ship your cell phone to them for free.
You’ll get paid from the buyer based on their payment terms and methods of payment. If you have more than one phone, you can even sell in bulk.
Sell Cell claims they will get you the most cash for your phone, guaranteed.
Selling your iPhone on Craigslist is another option. One good thing about selling your phone on Craigslist is that you won’t pay listing or selling fees. It’s completely free to sell your stuff on Craigslist and similar sites.
However, there are some downsides to selling your phone on Craigslist. For instance, you may need to meet your buyer in person instead of shipping the phone. Depending on your schedule, this may be an inconvenience. Also, you’ll have to decide what types of payments you’ll accept. Cash or a cashier’s check are always good options when selling on Craigslist.
Taking safety precautions is especially important when selling on sites like Craigslist. Be sure to meet in a public place and let someone know where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
OCBuyBack is a California-based company that purchases phones, tablets, smart watches and more.
To sell your item, simply select your device to receive an offer. If you agree the offer, you can choose to print a prepaid shipping label or have a shipping kit sent to you.
Once the company inspects the item, you’ll be paid within 2 business days. You can choose to get paid via Paypal or check.

GadgetGone is a growing company gaining popularity for their easy and fast process. They honor your time by efficiently helping you sell your iPhone and getting cash into your hands in as little as two days.
More importantly, GadgetGone has strong competitive prices.
To start, just fill out their simple form and if you agree to their instant quote, ship the phone to GadgetGobe. Once the iPhone is received, GadgetGone will pay you by either a mailed check, eCheck or PayPal payment.

You can also sell your iPhone through Amazon trade-in program.
When you do that, you simply use the trade-in page on Amazon to discover the price they’ll pay you for your phone. Note that you won’t get cash, but you’ll get an Amazon e-gift card instead for the value of your phone as determined by Amazon.
eBay is another option for selling your iPhone. You may not find selling on eBay as easy or simple as selling to Decluttr. However, you could potentially get more money for your phone if you sell it on eBay.
When you sell your iPhone on eBay you’ll need to determine an asking price. I recommend viewing other iPhones that are for sale or have recently sold to help you determine your asking price.
Also, you’ll have to decide on what you’ll charge for shipping and whether or not you’ll insure your package. Again, using past and current listings to do research on details regarding the sale of your phone will help you determine what you should charge.
Note that selling on eBay comes with other unknowns, too. However, you’ll want to consider selling to a highly rated buyer, and determine whether or not you’ll take lower offers than what your asking price is.
Note that you will likely pay listing fees and selling fees for selling your iPhone on eBay as well.
There are a lot more details for you as a seller to take care of when you sell on a site like eBay. But again, you could walk away with more money in some instances.
If you’d like, you can also trade your iPhone in directly to Apple and get an Apple store e-gift card. When you visit the Apple website, it will ask you a series of questions to help determine a potential trade-in credit amount.
Keep in min this amount may differ from what you get as a credit when you bring it directly to an Apple store. This is because an employee has to evaluate the phone before you’re given a final trade-in value.
13. Best Buy
Best Buy has a trade-in program that allows you to get store credit for a future Best Buy purchase. Here’s how it works.
First, you bring your phone into a participating Best Buy location. A Best Buy employee will assess the condition of the phone and label it in one of several ways:
- Not accepted
If your iPhone is eligible to qualify for a trade-in value, you’ll get a store credit to Best Buy. You can use your store credit toward the purchase of any Best Buy item.
Note: You can use the Best Buy trade-in program in an online manner as well. Just head to the Best Buy website for instructions on how to do so.
Walmart has a trade-in program for electronics as well. This online program works as follows: First, you find your device on the Walmart exchange program website.
Then, you answer a few questions about the type of phone you have and its condition. Once you accept the quote you’re given, you can ship the phone with the free shipping label provided by Walmart.
After the phone is evaluated you’ll get a free Walmart e-gift card via email. You can use your gift card to purchase a new iPhone or any other item at Walmart.
Obviously, trade-in programs such as these aren’t the same as getting cash. However if you shop at Walmart a lot, a gift card could be a valuable payout for your used iPhone.
With Glyde, you can sell your iPhone much in the same way you’d sell it on eBay. You’ll list your phone type and wait for someone to buy it. There are no listing fees, but you will pay a selling fee of 15% when your phone sells.
You’ll also pay between $1 and $6 for the shipping kit Glyde sends you. After your phone sells, you can request payment by check or by Bitcoin.
Trustpilot score is 4.0 out of 5
uSell will help you sell your phone by advertising it to a network of trusted buyers. After you enter your phone’s information, uSell will show you the top offers.
When you accept an offer, uSell will send you a free, prepaid shipping kit. After they receive your phone the folks at uSell will assess its condition.
You’ll get a check in the mail or a PayPal deposit, whichever you choose. uSell buys damaged phones as well as functioning phones.
17. Pawn stores
You could also try selling your iPhone at a pawn store for quick money. They’ll usually pay you on the spot when you sell phones and other items. However, it’s important to note you may not get the most money for your phone when selling to a pawn store.
Tips for getting the most money for your iPhone
Now that you know of some of the best ways to sell your used iPhone, read on for some tips that could help you get the most money for your phone.
Keep it in great condition
The first step to getting paid the most money for your phone is to keep it in good condition. The better the condition of the phone, the more money you’ll probably receive for it.
This can be especially true when you sell to a private party through sites like eBay or Craigslist. Take great care of your phone while you have it so that you can get more money when you sell it.
Do your research
Another tip for getting more money for your iPhone is to do your research. Check out several of the sites listed here and see which sites are paying the most for used iPhones.
Then, weigh the payouts with the amount of work it will take to sell your iPhone. Use your research to determine how you can get the most money for your phone using the selling route that’s most acceptable to you.
For instance, you may decide you’d rather sell through a site like Decluttr and get a little bit less for your phone than you would by selling through eBay. The convenience factor may be worth more to you than some extra cash.
Sell it right away
Generally speaking, you’re likely to get more money for your iPhone if it’s a newer model. Therefore, don’t leave your old phone sitting in a drawer for months on end. Instead, sell it as quickly as possible in order to help maximize your profit.
