Is PrizeRebel a Scam?
PrizeRebel is a legit way to make money online, but you must “work smarter, not harder.” As a reward, you can be paid in cash or gift cards starting with a $5 payout in cash or gift cards. Using PrizeRebel regularly means you can get paid weekly!
You won’t be able to retire from your PrizeRebel earnings or replace your daytime income. But, PrizeRebel can be a fun and easy way to make some extra money on the side. Most tasks only require a few minutes, which makes this a perfect hustle if you’re a teenager, busy parent or working professional.
Who Can Join PrizeRebel?
You must be at least 16 years old to join PrizeRebel. Until you’re at least 18 years old, you must have parental permission to join. Membership is available in many countries, but you will have the best opportunities if you live in these nations:
- United States
- United Kingdom
PrizeRebel is completely free to join by submitting your name and email address or Facebook profile. The signup process is a breeze and only takes a few seconds.
Once you verify your account, make sure you complete the profile questionnaire to begin receiving the most relevant surveys and offer opportunities. With any side hustle, how you manage your time is just as important as how much you earn per task.
How to Make Money with PrizeRebel
There are five different ways to make money with PrizeRebel:
- Online surveys
- Completing offers
- Watching videos
- Performing online microtasks
- Referring friends
I’ve dabbled on several get-paid-to sites besides PrizeRebel. PrizeRebel is one of my favorites for two reasons. First, you have a variety of ways to get paid. If you experience “survey fatigue,” you can watch videos or play games to earn points.
The second reason why I like PrizeRebel is its flexible payment options. My favorite redemption option is the $2 Amazon gift card. Or, you can request cash payment when your balance reaches $5. I like smaller, more frequent payments from side hustles because it keeps my motivation level high.
Below are some tricks and tips to maximize each earning option.
Online surveys are the easiest and most consistent way to earn PrizeRebel points. There are currently nine different survey partners and you can participate in multiple surveys each day from each provider.
Scroll through each survey provider and pay attention to these two columns:
- Time to Complete
You want to look for the maximum number of points with the shortest time commitment. For example, you may see a 4-minute survey that pays 11 points or an 18-minute survey that pays 252 points. I’m going to try for the 18-minute one first.
Keep in mind, that you must first complete a screener with every survey attempt. If you don’t qualify for a survey, you will still earn a PrizeRebel sweepstakes entry. And, PrizeRebel will continue to find you a relevant survey.
Since every person has a different life story, you will need to find the network you have the most success with. It might feel like a process of trial and error at first. Although it’s an extra step, take a few minutes to complete a profile survey with each network too.
You will receive credit for most surveys within 24 hours of completion.
Completing Free and Paid Offers
Completing offers can also be rewarding, but you might have to make a purchase. Yes, “pay to play” offers are the most lucrative option. However, only make purchases if you plan on spending the money anyway for that product anyways.
Don’t despair, there are many free offers, too. For example, I have earned bonus points by visiting websites while learning something new. In other instances, you can earn points by getting insurance quotes, downloading apps or playing online games.
Some of the offers give you the opportunity to earn up to $150 in gift cards to your favorite stores and restaurants by taking online surveys. Some of the gift card possibilities include:
- Dollar Tree
You’re not going to earn a lot of points by watching videos, but you can learn something new. And, it can offer some variety from your regular YouTube routine.
I recommend watching videos when you’re completing other errands on the honey-do list. Some activities might include doing laundry, preparing supper or even completing homework. If you want to get an “A” on your next exam, you might want to ignore that last recommendation.
PrizeRebel streams videos from Smores.tv and VideoLoyalty about a variety of topics. I personally like the world news, automotive reviews and food channels. You usually have to watch three or four videos to receive credit, so set aside about five minutes for each video bank.
The third way to earn points is by completing microtasks. As of this review, there are currently nine available tasks that pay between 1 and 6 points per task. PrizeRebel also gives bonus points to members who complete the most tasks. If you win the grand prize, you receive 200 bonus points.
Some of the tasks include:
- Drawing boxes on products
- Finding company earning release dates
- Building online website directories
Keep in mind that if microtasks are your cup of tea, you will find a better selection at MTurk, which offers cash and Amazon gift cards as payment.
Refer Friends to Earn Bonus Points
One way to earn passive income from PrizeRebel is referring friends. You can earn up to 30% of what your friends earn. If they earn 100 points, you get 30 bonus points just because you told them about PrizeRebel! So, the more friends you refer, the more you earn.
Additional Ways to Earn PrizeRebel Points
There are three additional ways you can earn bonus points from PrizeRebel.
PrizeRebel regularly publishes promo codes that you can redeem for bonus points. You might receive them in email and social media.
PrizeRebel Browser Extension
Installing the PrizeRebel browser extension guarantees you don’t miss promo codes or new survey opportunities. You can also check your friend referral stats at any time.
As you earn points, you will upgrade account levels. PrizeRebel currently starts all new members off at Bronze, which is the lowest level. There are four additional tiers you can climb, with Diamond being the highest tier. Once you reach the three highest tiers, you receive a monthly earnings bonus.
Several benefits of upgrading membership levels include:
- Point Earning Bonus
- Discounted Prizes
- Increased Friend Referral Bonuses
- Receive Your Prize Selections Sooner
Each day, you can earn bonus points if you earn a target number of points.
By meeting the challenge amount, you also have the opportunity to earn a daily bonus.
Redeeming Your PrizeRebel Points
After earning rewards points, it’s now time to redeem them! Your redemption options include:
- Gift cards
- Cash (PayPal, Dwolla, or Visa Prepaid Gift Card)
- Contests and raffles
Each redemption option requires a different number of points, but your points have the same value for the three redemption categories.
Every point is worth 1 cent. To have a $2 points balance, you must earn 200 points for instance.
You will need to accrue 500 points ($5) to begin requesting cash and gift cards. Once you become a Gold member, you can begin receiving the $2 Amazon gift card.
You can begin requesting $5 gift cards when your balance is 500 points.
Periodically, certain gift cards go on sale. At the time of this review, for instance, you can get a $10 Restaurant.com gift card for only 400 points. That’s a $6 savings and gives you 600 points to spend on your next reward!
It usually takes one day to receive your gift card rewards. If you happen to be a Gold, Platinum or Diamond member, you get your reward within five minutes.
Once you become a Gold member, you can qualify for the coveted $2 Amazon gift card. If Amazon gift cards are your preferred payment method, you can now request payment in half the time.
You have three different cash payment options:
- Visa Prepaid Gift Card
It’s possible to request cash payments with a $5 balance. Once again, this is one reason why I like PrizeRebel. It makes it just as easy to get cash as gift cards.
Many other survey sites require a minimum $20 or $25 balance before you can get paid in cash, yet offer gift cards with $5 balances. Not everybody always wants a restaurant or retail gift card just because it’s the cheapest option. With PrizeRebel, cash and gift cards are both equally easy to earn.
Once you reach the Silver membership tier, you can request custom balance amounts in excess of $5. For example, if your account balance is $7, you can request a $7 PayPal or Dwolla payment instead of waiting until your balance reaches $10 to redeem your entire balance.
Similar to gift cards, you should plan on waiting 24 hours to receive your PayPal or Dwolla payment. Gold and other premium members can receive their cash within an hour.
Contests and Raffles
This third points redemption option doesn’t offer guaranteed payment.
You won’t have to spend points on the PrizeRebel contests. These contests usually reward the most active members. Each contest focuses on a single activity you need to complete, like surveys, offers, or microtasks. A new contest begins every two weeks.
If you want to live on the wild side or have a few points to burn, you can try your hand at a gift card raffles or lucky number draws to win bonus points. You must spend points to buy entry for either giveaway.
Personally, I use sites like PrizeRebel to make money and stick with guaranteed forms of payment like gift cards and PayPal cash.
Bonus Tip: Play instant win games for free on Lucktastic.
How Much Money Can You Make on PrizeRebel?
Your earning potential depends on how often you use PrizeRebel and which activities you pursue. PrizeRebel mentions that the most active members earn more than $500 a month exclusively from surveys. You need to complete multiple daily surveys to be a high earner.
The second most lucrative activity is participating in offers. But you must read the offer requirements to see if you must make a purchase to earn the bonus. If time is precious, offers can pay more points with shorter time commitments.
In your free time, you can also watch videos and complete microtasks. These activities don’t pay as much as surveys or offers but require the least amount of time per task.
Where PrizeRebel Excels
There are many different online survey sites to choose from, but there are many reasons why you should join PrizeRebel.
Some of PrizeRebel’s strengths include:
- Earn points from surveys, offers, watching videos, and referring friends
- Redeem points for gift cards with a $2 balance
- Can take multiple daily surveys
- Watch unlimited daily videos to earn points
- New surveys and offers released each day
- Long-time members enjoy additional benefits as they upgrade membership tier
The two main reasons why PrizeRebel is so attractive is the variety of earning opportunities. You’re not limited exclusively to surveys or watching videos like other platforms.
Since most gift cards and cash rewards require a balance of $5 or less, you can request more frequent payments. On other sites that have a high payment threshold, you’re less likely to continue earning points and more likely to give up before you qualify for your first payment.
I also like that PrizeRebel is an easy-to-navigate platform. You can quickly find the survey, offer, or video you’re looking for. PrizeRebel clearly explains the actions required to earn the offer or survey payment. You also see how soon PrizeRebel will deposit the points in your account once you complete any activity.
Where PrizeRebel Can Improve
Like any platform, PrizeRebel isn’t a perfect side hustle. Here are a few of the downsides to using PrizeRebel:
- Must complete a screener for each survey attempt
- Only get sweepstakes entries (not points) if you don’t qualify for a survey
- Can’t earn points from shopping online
The most common PrizeRebel activity for you will most likely be online surveys. But, you only get paid if you can qualify for the survey and complete all the questions.
One frustration for PrizeRebel and other get-paid-to sites is that you don’t qualify for every survey attempt. Yes, I’ve been disqualified for multiple surveys after answering several screener questions. PrizeRebel and the survey provider will try to find another relevant survey, but answering repetitive screener questions can get annoying.
Another way PrizeRebel could make it easier to earn points is by offering reward points for online shopping. Other PrizeRebel alternatives offer this capability, which makes it easier to earn points you can redeem for cash or gift cards.
Alternatives to PrizeRebel
Are you still on the fence about joining PrizeRebel? You might prefer these alternatives instead. Or, you can magnify your earning potential by splitting your efforts between PrizeRebel and another recommendation listed below.
Swagbucks is the most similar alternative to PrizeRebel. You can earn points from the same online activities plus a few more like online shopping and web searches. When you’re looking for a complete “all-in-one” platform, Swagbucks may be a better option.
It’s also possible to begin redeeming your points for gift cards with a minimum $3 balance. However, if you want to get paid with PayPal cash, your balance must reach $25.
Another reason you might try Swagbucks is for the multiple survey attempts. Yes, you can take multiple surveys on PrizeRebel but I sometimes find it easier to qualify for surveys on Swagbucks.
Read our Swagbucks review to decide if Swagbucks or PrizeRebel is better for you.
If you only want to take surveys, Survey Junkie offers multiple daily surveys with many gift card redemption options. You can begin redeeming your points for gift cards or PayPal cash when your balance reaches $10. This is a higher point redemption requirement than PrizeRebel, but you might find better-paying surveys too.

Whenever I shop online, I almost always get cash back on every purchase! The lone exceptions are my occasional visits to mom-and-pop shops. You will find competitive cash rewards on Swagbucks, but my go-to cash back portal is Rakuten.
Rakuten currently offers up to 40% cash back at over 2,500 online stores. You can also earn rewards on in-store purchases at roughly 30 retailers, too.
There are two reasons why I shop online with Rakuten:
- The Rakuten browser extension notifies me of every cash back opportunity
- Their customer support team is quick and helpful (speaking from personal experience)
If you’re not familiar with how Rakuten works, here’s a quick synopsis:
- Activate a shopping session online or with the Rakuten app
- Complete your purchase in that browser tab with the unique shopping link
- Cash back goes to your account soon after paying for the purchase
I’ve used Rakuten to get cash back when I replaced my laptop, switched home internet providers, booked a vacation and bought essential items like clothing and food. Rakuten is free to use and you won’t pay higher prices at the checkout session.
When your cash balance reaches $5.01, you will receive payment by check, PayPal, or gift card.
New members also get a $10 cash bonus on their first Rakuten purchase.
Another Side Hustle
Because there are only 24 hours in a day, you need to determine the reason for your side hustle. Not every side hustle pays the same. I’m all for starting a side hustle, but only if it’s worth your time.
Side hustles are more productive than watching movies or taking random quizzes on social media because you’re bored. But, you need to choose the side hustle that best aligns with these three factors:
- Your skills
- How much time you can commit to each task
- Desired monthly earnings
PrizeRebel isn’t going to be the best option if you want to replace your current daytime income or retire early. But, because most tasks only require a time commitment of 15 minutes or less. it may fit your lifestyle if you can’t commit hours each week to a side job. You will still earn enough money to pay for date night, make extra loan payments, or start an online savings account.
PrizeRebel is one of the better get-paid-to sites to make money online in a few minutes. Because you have several paid activities to pursue, you should never get bored. With the flexible payment redemption options, you can also get paid continually with minimal effort.
